Chris Jericho Wasn't Asked To Appear At WWE SmackDown 1000
Could this have something to do with his NJPW commitments?
Oct 17, 2018
One of the most prominent names in WWE history was missing from SmackDown 1000 last night - and no, I'm not talking about James Ellsworth. Chris Jericho is the missing man in question, withY2J setting the record straight as to why he didn't appear on the celebratory show for the brand that he called home more than once during his illustrious career.
The current IWGP Intercontinental Champion simply replied to a fan on Twitter when asked why he wasn't on the show, saying: "Nobody asked me…"

If only Jericho tweeted this before last night's show and he might have got a last minute invite. Batista did the same when he initially wasn't invited to SmackDown 1000 - which took place in The Animal's hometown, no less - and ended up arguably stealing the show during
that
Evolution promo.
Could the lack of Jericho on last night's show have something to do with his New Japan Pro Wrestling commitments? Chris won their Intercontinental title back at Dominion 6.9 In Osaka-Jo Hall in June and made his comeback recently by attacking EVIL. Jericho will face EVIL in what will be his first IC title defence at NJPW's Power Struggle event on 3 November, and with that event so close, could it be that WWE didn't want any extra eyes on somebody who is essentially the property of another company for the time being?
Jericho's last WWE match occurred at the Greatest Royal Rumble back in April - a night where he almost replaced Rusev in the casket match against The Undertaker until the Saudi royal family reportedly ordered The Bulgarian Brute be the one to take on The Deadman.
