AEW: Dynamite has been widely praised over the past four weeks for its TNT Championship Tournament. The contest started with eight competitors as Shawn Spears, Cody Rhodes, Sammy Guevara, Darby Allin, Lance Archer, Colt Cabana, Dustin Rhodes, and Kip Sabian battled it out to be crowned the inaugural champion.

The semi-finals of the tournament took place on last night's episode of Dynamite as Cody Rhodes went one on one with Darby Allin, and Lance Archer faced off against Dustin Rhodes.

The third encounter between Cody and Darby opened the show and Allin almost had the match won after hitting Cody with Crossroads, but The American Nightmare managed to kick out at two. Cody Exotic later hit The Invisible Man with his own Crossroads, but again, the finishing move proved ineffective as Darby got his shoulder up at two. Cody then took a risk as he tried to hit Allin with a Coffin Drop, only to have it blocked. With Rhodes writhing in pain on the mat, Darby climbed to the top rope and connected with his finisher, only to have it reversed into a pin which allowed Cody to suddenly pick up the victory.

Archer vs. Rhodes main evented the episode as both wrestlers tried to annihilate each other. Ultimately, The Murderhawk Monster proved too fearsome for Dustin as The Natural was pinned after Cody refused to throw in the towel for his brother.

Now, Lance Archer will finally have his match with Caesar on May 23 at Double Or Nothing.
