AEW's Matt Hardy & Private Party Appear On IMPACT Wrestling
The working relationship grows
Jan 20, 2021
All Elite Wrestling had a strong presence on last night's edition of IMPACT Wrestling as Matt Hardy returned to the IMPACT Zone with Private Party.
During the show, The Good Brothers headed to the ring to celebrate their victory at Hard To Kill. They were quickly interrupted by Chris Sabin, though, who pointed out that The Motor City Machine Guns weren't pinned when they lost the IMPACT World Tag Team Championship at Bound For Glory. He demanded a title shot and introduced the returning James Storm as his tag team partner after The Good Brothers mentioned Alex Shelley wasn't there.
After both teams bickered back and forth, Matt Hardy's AEW theme suddenly played over the titantron and Big Money Matt and Private Party headed to the ring. The Multifarious One said the IMPACT teams should be on their knees thanking him because he put the promotion on his back in 2016 and stopped the company from going bankrupt. He then mentioned that he and Jeff Hardy were stripped of the IMPACT Tag Team Title in "some stupid teleportation angle."
After more bickering between everyone, a number one contenders' match between Private Party and Chris Sabin & James Storm was booked for the main event.
Ahead of the final match, Tony Khan appeared in the latest AEW paid ad, this time alongside Jerry Lynn. The AEW president noted they were both in the IMPACT Zone and would be at ringside for the main event.
Jerry Lynn's presence ultimately paid dividends for Private Party. After a back and forth contest, Sabin climbed to the top rope but Lynn hopped the barricade and grabbed the former IMPACT World Champion's leg while Hardy distracted the official. This gave Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen the opening they needed to connect with Gin And Juice and cover Sabin for the 1-2-3.
The Good Brothers made their way to the ring after the bell to confront the new number one contenders. The teams briefly stared each other down until Sabin and Storm attacked them. IMPACT then went off the air as all three teams brawled around the squared circle.
