Ever since Adam Cole strolled into AEW at All Out in September, wrestling fans have been proposing all manner of dream matches for the former NXT Champion, but one name sits above them all for Cole - CM Punk.

Former ROH Champions, Cole and Punk have never crossed paths, but now due to their employment by AEW, a match between the two is possible and probable, as Cole revealed to Bleacher Report:

"CM Punk is at the top of my list. I've been very open and honest about how much he influenced me in my career. He's a guy who introduced me to Ring of Honor and independent wrestling as a whole. He was the guy who made me realise I really want to focus on promos. I never thought I'd get the chance to step into the ring with him."

Punk last wrestled for ROH in 2006 on a one night only deal after leaving for WWE the year prior, whilst Cole started with ROH in 2009. When and where the two will fight is anyone’s guess, but it’ll surely be one of the most anticipated matches of recent years.
