AEW: Dynamite Results - September 29 2021
A night dedicated to Mr. Brodie Lee
Sep 30, 2021
It’s Wednesday, you know what that means, as AEW rolled into Rochester, New York - hometown of the late great Mr. Brodie Lee.
Fittingly, the TNT Title was the main focus of the show, with God’s Favourite Champion Miro dropping the title to The Spanish God Sammy Guevara in Dynamite’s main event. The Redeemer dominated Sammy for long spells of this bout, but Sammy built up momentum, kicking out of a Machka Kick, and with a little help from Fuego del Sol, got Miro down and nailed a tornado DDT, a GTH, and a 630 to Miro's golden junk to seal the win and raise the title.
It was later announced that Sammy’s first challenger for the title will be none other than Bobby Fish! Forbidden Door in the bin.
Jungle Boy and Adam Cole finally faced off in singles action. The two have been at each other’s throats since Cole made his shocking debut at All Out. Cole used his experience to keep Jungle Boy grounded for spells of the match, but when JB got on the front foot, Cole brought him back down to Earth with a sneaky mule-kick low blow while the ref was distracted, then dropped the BOOM for the win.
Post-match, Cole was joined by The Super Elite in ring. The Elite were patting themselves on the back for all their accomplishments, with Kenny Omega saying how good his match with Bryan Danielson was last week, before saying Danielson won’t get a rematch. American Dragon came out to lambast Kenny ‘no balls’ Omega, before Jurassic Express, Christian Cage, and Kazarian joined him to challenge The Elite.
Cody Rhodes continued to be berated by the fans during his and Lee Johnson’s victory over Dante Martin and Matt Sydal. All talk was about Arn Anderson though, with The Enforcer taking the mic to criticise Rhodes’ weakness. Arn said if Cody was carjacked he’d accept it, hand over the car, and ask not to be hurt, whereas if Arn was carjacked, he’d pull out his Glock and blow the carjacker’s brains out. Armed Anderson more like.
The Dark Order were finally back on the same page to honour Brodie Lee, joining with Orange Cassidy to defeat The Hardy Family Office in 16-man tag action. Anna Jay and Tay Conti also tasted victory, defeating The Bunny and Penelope Ford, with -1 joining them in celebration.
We also saw the official signing of Lio Rush - making his second AEW appearance after the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing.
Elsewhere: Andrade warned The Lucha Bros that he has friends coming to take their AAA Tag Titles off of them. Ruby Soho vowed things will be different the next she and Britt Baker clash. The Men of the Year bigged themselves up after beating down The Inner Circle last week. FTR said they have a renewed focus and are going to return to the summit of the tag division. Jon Moxley, Eddie Kingston, and Darby Allin battered Bear Country and Anthony Greene. And MJF and Darby Allin had a war of words in the ring.
