AEW Battle Of The Belts V Date Revealed

AEW announced several upcoming shows on the November 2 edition of AEW Dynamite, revealing that Battle of the Belts is set to return in January 2023.

Scheduled for Portland, Oregon on January 6, Battle of the Belts V will mark AEW’s debut in Oregon, with the promotion also promoting an episode of Rampage at the same show. With January 6 being a Friday it’s assumed that AEW will air Rampage live and record BOTB for Saturday, January 7.

Battle of the Belts V marks the one-year anniversary of the BOTB series, with the first running on January 8, 2022, from Garland, Texas. Intended to be AEW’s answer to the classic Jim Crockett/WCW Clash of the Champions broadcasts from the 1980s, with the name Battle of the Belts previously used by NWA affiliate CWF in the mid-80s.

All BOTB events thus far have been three match cards, and feature nothing but title matches. There have so far been only two title changes in BOTB, with Sammy Guevara winning the Interim TNT Championship at BOTB I, and Guevara defeating Scorpio Sky for the same belt at BOTB II in April 2022.
