According to a report from

Pro Wrestling Sheet

, NXT Superstar Abbey Laith has been released from her WWE contract.

Laith was told of her release yesterday but at this time the reason for the move is unknown. She has taken to

Twitter

since learning of the news, posting a picture of an inspirational quote from Rocky Balboa earlier this afternoon: "It will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done."

Known to many fans as Kimber Lee on the Independent scene, Laith was part of last year's Mae Young Classic. She made it all the way to the quarter-finals before losing to Mercedes Martinez, beating Jazzy Gabert and Rachel Evers - daughter of AOP manager Paul Ellering, didn't you know? - along the way.

Laith made three appearances on NXT television, losing a singles bout against Ruby Riott - named as Kimberly Frankele for that one - in April of last year before taking part in the NXT Women's Championship #1 Contendership Battle Royal. Her final appearance on NXT TV came in the Women's Championship Qualifying Battle Royal - won by Nikki Cross - in October.

Her last match as part of the promotion was a defeat to Vanessa Borne at a house show in the Martin Luther King Jr. Recreation Center on March 2.
